OS-Policesept-fullOn Thursday November 2, 2017 at approximately 11:00 a.m, a wanted 40 year old Owen Sound man was seen walking on the east side of the city by an officer on patrol. The man was wanted by city police on four bench warrants and a warrant for theft, failing to comply with probation, possession of stolen property and for failing to attend court.

The uniformed officer attempted to stop the wanted man who immediately ran from police to avoid arrest. The wanted man tried to evade the uniformed officer by running through back yards. An off-duty Owen Sound police officer who saw what was unfolding, joined the foot pursuit through the back yards of the 700 block of 16th Street East and was able to pin the man to the ground and make the arrest.

Once apprehended, a search of the wanted man revealed that he had a quantity of cocaine in his possession and was armed with a prohibited flick-knife that was found in his waistband.

The Saugeen Shores Police Service also wanted the man for a break and enter where it is alleged that he stole a gun. Further, the Grey County O.P.P had an outstanding warrant for the man's arrest for theft and failing to appear for court.

The Owen Sound Police Service has the man held in custody until later today, when he appears before the court in Owen Sound.
