Annual elections for the Bluewater District School Board trustee positions of Chair and Vice-Chair were held as part of the Initial Meeting of the Board on December 19, 2017.

Ron Motz, Trustee for the Municipality of West Grey/Town of Hanover, was acclaimed as Chair for a fourth term. Also acclaimed was Jan Johnstone, Trustee for the Municipality of Kincardine/Township of Huron-Kinloss, who continues as Vice-Chair for a third term.

Trustees are now entering  the fourth and final year of the 2014 – 2018 term. Over the course of the past 12 months, their hard work has helped pave the way for a more sustainable path forward for Bluewater District School Board through the responsible stewardship of resources, securing a budget surplus for the first time in a long while, building community partnerships, and ensuring the board has a voice in provincial decisions affecting rural education. Additionally, trustees have continued to advocate for expanded learning in Ontario's school curriculum related to the history and culture of Canada's Indigenous Peoples.

Congratulations are extended to Trustees Ron Motz and Jan Johnstone as they continue to serve Bluewater District School Board in their leadership roles.
