The Owen Sound Police Service is currently investigating an incident of graffiti mischief which occurred in the east end of the city and was reported in the morning of Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
It has been determined that the graffiti is racially disparaging and is currently being investigated criminallyas a hate crime. The Criminal Investigation Bureau and front line officers have canvassed the community and continue to collect information regarding this hateful incident.
The graffiti mischief is an isolated incident.
We remind the media and citizens not to repost the image of the graffiti, as its words are inflammatory and racist by definition under the Criminal Code of Canada, and is punishable by law.
We urge anyone with information about this crime or any other crime to report it anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (222-TIPS) or with a secure webtip on line at www. cstip.ca or call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 519-376-1234

The investigation continues, therefore no further updates will be released at this time.
