opp-p0lice-july-fullGEORGIAN BLUFFS – On Thursday, September 4, 2014 at approximately 8:28 p.m., Grey County OPP investigated a single vehicle rollover on Concession 14 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Police arrived at the scene and observed an abandoned 1997 Pontiac Grand Am vehicle with extensive damage to it as a result of the collision. A short time later, the same vehicle was reported stolen.

Police conducted their investigations and, as a result, two people were charged in connection to these incidents.

The driver of the vehicle, age 36, and a 37-year old woman, both of the Township of Georgian Bluffs, were each charged with Public Mischief under the Criminal Code.

They are scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on September 25, 2014.

More paint splashed on Grey Rd.

MEAFORD – On Monday, September 15, 2014 at approximately 4:06 p.m., Grey County OPP received a report from a motorist advising their vehicle was damaged after unknowingly driving over fresh paint deposited on Grey Rd. 18 approximately 100 meters west of Concession 6 in the Municipality of Meaford.

The orange/pink paint was deposited on the roadway by unknown person(s). This is the fifth incident of this type to have occurred on Grey Rd. 18 since July 2013.

Anyone with information as to the suspect vehicle or person(s) responsible for this act of mischief is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Mailboxes damaged

GEORGIAN BLUFFS – On Sunday, September 14, 2014 at approximately 1:22 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a damaged mailbox on the Sarawak-Keppel Townline in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Police attended the area and found that a total of 11 mail boxes had been damaged overnight in the vicinity of Sarawak-Keppel Town Line, Presqui'le Road, Linwood Road, and Dawson Road.

Residents are reminded to contact police to report any suspicious activity in the area.

Drugs stolen from IDA in Markdale

GREY HIGHLANDS – On Thursday, September 11, 2014, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from the I.D.A. Pharmacy located on Main Street, Markdale, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The complainant stated that at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10th, an unknown male entered the pharmacy and removed several boxes of Pseudoephedrine valued at approximately $328. The suspect was observed getting into the passenger seat of a black Mazda SUV which fled west bound on Main Street.

The suspect was described as being 5'4 – 5'7" tall, slim build, 40-50 years of age, and blonde hair. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, white running shoes and a yellow ball cap. He spoke with a slight accent.

Police probe fire at farm house

GREY HIGHLANDS – Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate a fire which occurred at an abandoned farm house on Grey Road 31 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands on Sunday, September 7, 2014.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on September 7th, police were called after neighbours observed a glow coming from within the abandoned farmhouse. They were able to extinguish the small fire inside the residence prior to the fire department's arrival.

Evidence at the scene suggested that the fire was deliberately started.

The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office was notified.
