cultureWe have a growing community experiencing skilled labour shortages and is dependent on the attraction and retention of newcomers.

But how do we work together to ensure we're a welcoming community?

In partnership with municipalities and local initiatives, New to Grey is hosting Diversity Training sessions on Building Cultural Awareness.

Are you an employer, service provider or local community member looking to understand the challenges newcomers face when settling in a new environment of a rural community? Do you want to learn more on the benefits of having cultural diversity within the community and workplace?

Discovering the challenges services providers and workplaces face when working with newcomers has been a crucial exercise in creating the right resources and tools for more effective communication. Let's turn challenges that are often associated with cultural differences into a source of creativity and innovation and cultivate a welcoming community.

Objectives for the session:
Understand the challenges newcomers face when settling in a new environment of a rural community.
Highlight the benefits of having cultural diversity within the community and workplace
Build awareness of basic fundamentals in intercultural competency
Enhance Community Connections

These sessions will be for each municipality and are intended for employers, service providers and local community members within each area.

We have started with hosting one in Meaford and one in Hanover. Stay tuned for future sessions in other municipalities over the next 2 months.
