coupon countryThere's no better time to shop local and save than in the summer! Whether it be shopping for summer clothing, finding new places to visit, or grabbing a bite to eat – everyone loves to save!

Coupon Country, a shop-local initiative launched by Bruce Power and managed by Tourist Town, is heading into its second phase of marketing with an emphasis on 'Stay Local and Save Local' this summer.

"Bruce Power has 4,200 full-time employees, and hundreds more on site at any given time," said James Scongack, Bruce Power's Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Environment. "As our partners in the nuclear supplier community open offices in the area to support our Life-Extension Program, we expect many families to permanently relocate to the area. By launching couponcountry.ca, we are providing local businesses with an opportunity to showcase themselves and their offerings to those who already live and shop locally, residents of Bruce, Grey and Huron counties, and people who plan to move to, or soon visit the area."

Coupon Country will be promoted through a door-to-door program, on social media and at special events across the region this summer. A contest has begun and will run through June, July and August to encourage local businesses to create a coupon by holding draws for a $2,500 marketing package for those businesses using the free service.

"When I discovered Coupon Country a few months ago, I was amazed at how quick and simple it was to add coupons to promote Samuels Hotel," said Kim Burgsma, Manager of Samuels Hotel, in Goderich. "We've received added exposure and have gained new customers without spending a dime. Thank you for this amazing, free marketing opportunity."

Coupon Country is free to all businesses in Bruce, Grey and Huron, and is supported by a comprehensive marketing strategy. Customers can also download the new Coupon Country mobile app to make accessing coupons even easier. The free app allows customers to select the types of coupons they are interested in and then receive notifications when these types of coupons are available nearby. This means potential new customers receive notifications on deals as they come into your town.

"Coupon Country has been a great way to advertise Harleys and all that we offer," said Nicole Wise, owner of Harleys Pub & Perk, in Mildmay. "It is a way to get new faces in the door and to check out our beautiful area."

Summer is a busy season for business owners and, though adding a coupon to CouponCountry.ca is quick and easy, a coupon expert has been brought on board to help businesses get started. The expert will be visiting businesses in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties to provide great coupon tips and help to upload free coupons.
