The 9th Annual Owen Sound Subaru Bayshore Race took place Sunday, August 26th and brought in $40,000 for the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation.

The Royal LePage RCR Realty Half Marathon Run was won by Charles Prange of Kitchener with a time of 1:23:41. The first female finisher was Janet Gamble from Owen Sound coming in at 1:27:43.

Christopher Moore of Toronto won the 10k Run in a time of 35:46. Princeton's Kait Toohey was the first woman in at 36:42, setting a new course record. 92.3 The Dock's 10k Power Walk (the Dock Walk) was won by Greg Stephanian of Toronto. Jason Weppler won the 5k Run in a time of 17:05. Our first female racer over the finish line was Hannah Woodhouse of Clarksburg with a time of 18:29. The 5k events were sponsored by The Runners Den and Liberty Tax Service.

"Congratulations to volunteers, participants and sponsors for making the Race such a success! The event is great for the City of Owen Sound and for the Foundation," said Race Co-Director, Greg Nicol.

The first two kids to cross the finish line in the 1k Kids' race were 9 year old Rimyelle Grady with a time of 4:11 closely followed by 10 year old Mackalyn Edwards with a time of 4:22. The Kids' Race was sponsored by Germania Mutual Insurance.

Our participants were supported by many sponsors including Northridge Property Management, Precision Design, Physiotherapy III, Goodlife Fitness, Meridian Credit Union, McDonald's Restaurants, Freshii, Owen Sound Fitness and Training, RAM Promotional, Closing the Gap Health Care, along with many other contributors.

"It was spectacular to see so many runners, walkers and volunteers come together for our cause. The Race continues to be a successful fundraiser and we can't wait to do it again next year," said Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation Chair, Derek Smith.

"The weather was perfect, the new course was well marked and participants had an exceptional experience – that's what we want" said Race Co-Director, Jessica Linthorne. "With over 450 participants, we had an outstanding day."

Funds raised will be used to help purchase 11 new anesthesia machines at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital.
