The Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation’s Guardian Angel Campaign is underway. This year’s Guardian Angel Campaign is raising funds for new beds. They are the one piece of equipment that every patient admitted to the hospital will need. While it may not be the flashiest piece of equipment, beds are an essential part of every-day care. And, right now we simply we don’t have enough.

Over the past several years, Owen Sound Regional Hospital has been working to replace old and outdated beds throughout the hospital. It’s been a long process and right now the Foundation is at a critical turning point. Twenty-five new beds must be purchased before the end of the year to keep up with the rapidly growing demand for care in our community.

With the support of our community, these highly specialized beds will greatly improve patient comfort, safety and care. Made with pressure relieving high-density foam, patients can adjust the beds themselves and lower and raise the bed at the touch of a button, making it much easier and safer to get in and out. Plus, these new beds come with numerous additional safety features to enhance patient care and they are easily moved between units, so they can be used wherever the need is greatest.

Through the Guardian Angel Campaign, the Foundation has set an ambitious goal to raise $400,000 towards the purchase of the beds and other essential needs.

“This holiday season, beds are the # 1 item on our Christmas wish list,” said Foundation Executive Director, Amy McKinnon. “We urgently need community support today to purchase 25 new beds and other essential patient needs.”

To make a donation, watch for the Foundation’s letter in your mail or call 519-372-3925, weekdays between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, to donate using your credit card. Donations can also be made securely at www.oshfoundation.ca/angel.

Donations to the Guardian Angel Campaign are recognized on the Foundation’s Angel Trees located at Heritage Place Shopping Centre and in the lobby of the Owen Sound Regional Hospital.
