e commerceIn an effort to support our small businesses, especially those deemed non-essential, Grey County Economic Development has been in contact with law enforcement agencies and the Province through the Stop the Spread Business Information Line and has followed up with the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation & Trade to better understand O. Reg 82/20.

The following information has been gathered from the above sources to better understand Section 1(3):

  • Teleworking and online commerce are permitted at all times for all businesses.
  • Non-essential businesses who are able to transition to online or over the phone sales are permitted to operate in this new way
  • Online or over the phone sales can be delivered by the store, mailed/couriered or made available for curbside pick up.

These are general comments. We are sharing the best information we have available at this time, but we cannot provide legal advice or information on how the order applies to each individual business. It is possible that the province may change the order or issue a new one in the future. As always, if you have specific questions about your business, please do not hesitate to call the Stop the Spread Business Information Line at 1-888-444-3659 or speak with your local law enforcement agency. You may also want to seek advice from a lawyer or licensed paralegal on how your business can comply with the order.

We know a further reduction to the Essential Business list is pending and this information will be made available through the provincial link on our Business Resource Page.

A reminder to everyone to please follow the direction of Public Health and do your part to prevent unnecessary movement throughout the community.

Thank you to our businesses and our community for their continued support of one another. We’re in this together.
