opp-graphic-fullGREY HIGHLANDS – Grey County OPP warn residents to beware of a scam known as the 'Magic Voucher' scam.

On Monday, February 23, 2015 a Municipality of Grey Highlands resident received a letter from a Josef v. J. which included a 'Magic Voucher'. The suspect claims to be a fortune-teller and tells the individual that they, too, have special mediumistic qualities and possess a sub-spiritual contact arc, which very few people possess. He then goes on to say that he can tell them when, where and how they will soon achieve a great win of money through a lottery ....... and he will do this free of charge!

The only thing the person is asked to do is to complete and return the 'Magic Voucher' which asks two questions: What is your father's first name and what is your date of birth?

DON'T GET SCAMMED! You cannot win money or a prize in a lottery unless you have entered it yourself, or someone else has entered it on your behalf.

PROTECT YOURSELF FROM IDENTITY THEFT! Identity thieves do not need a lot of information to carry out criminal activity. Your name, date of birth, address, SIN, and other personal information can be used by thieves to assume your identity. Don't disclose any personal information to someone you don't know or trust.

FRAUD: Recognize it. Report it. Stop it.

To learn more about Fraud, or to report a scam, call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or visit their website at www.antifraudcentre.ca.
