LarryMiller-reg Bruce-Grey-Owen MP Larry Miller has responded to the Liberal campaign promise to end Canada's first-past-the-post electoral system. Quoting from a petition he is supporting, Miller notes that "the Liberal platform did not propose an alternative method of electing Members of Parliament, but only that the current system should change." The petition calls for a full national referendum on any such change.

Prime Minister Trudeau has asked Maryam Monsef, Minister of Democratic Institutions, in her mandate letter, to "bring forward a proposal to establish a special parliamentary committee to consult on electoral reform, including preferential ballots, proportional representation, mandatory voting and online voting."
