remembrance dayToday, Larry Miller, Member of Parliament for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, issued the following statement in recognition of Remembrance Day:

"Today, we remember the sacrifices made by all of the brave men and women that have served, and continue to serve, this country, both at home and overseas.

In both past and current conflicts our Canadian soldiers have always shown courage, bravery, and strength when we need them most. Today, we recognize those who have, and continue, to put themselves in harm's way to protect the rights and freedoms that we enjoy as Canadians.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele – a battle that approximately 100,000 Canadian soldiers fought in. While victory would come at a deadly cost to Canada with almost 12,000 soldiers wounded and more than 4,000 Canadians paying the ultimate sacrifice, it would pave the way toward the end of the
war. A true testament to the strength and resilience of Canada soldiers.

I encourage everyone to attend a local Remembrance Day ceremony today, take a moment of silence, and pay respect to those who have fought and continue to fight oppression and evil around the world.

Lest we forget."
