This week, MPP Bill Walker announced the following projects were approved by the province for funding:

* Municipality of Meaford – bridge – structure 043 replacement. Total eligible cost: $1,280,000*.

* Township of Georgian Bluffs – road – reconstruction of Inglis Falls Road. Total eligible cost: $4,520,909*.

*Total eligible costs will be split between the federal, provincial and municipal government.

The projects are now awaiting approval by the federal government.

Earlier this spring, Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure, Monte McNaughton, launched the $30-billion integrated bilateral Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.

Minister McNaughton has been working closely with Ontario’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ernie Hardeman, on the $500-million Rural and Northern stream of this program. Projects, including those listed above, are the first to be nominated under this stream.

“These are important projects and we’re excited to get them built. Now it’s up to the federal Government to approve them,” said Walker. “These projects are very important for our community. They’re the things that matter – the roads and bridges that get us home at night.”
