The official start of the Ontario election campaign is May 9 about noon, but Progressive Conservative Bill Walker is ready to run. His campaign office opened today in Owen Sound, and supporters came to hear Walker speak and pick up their blue "Team Walker" shirts and election signs.

Walker says he is running for a third term as MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound for the same reasons he ran the first time – to make a difference for people in this region. This time, he says, his biggest concern is the unsustainability of Liberal spending levels.

The growth of the provincial debt, he said in his remarks, is costing Ontarians $1 billion a month that is not going to the front line services people come to his constituency office to discuss.

"We cannot kick this down the road," Walker said, and pointed to his young nephews in the audience."If we don't turn this province around, our children and grandchildren's generation will never be out of debt."

Walker thanked his campaign team and spoke of the collaboration with MP Larry Miller's volunteers.
He said that the first province-wide canvas will be Saturday, May 5.

No mention was made of PC leader Doug Ford or the party platform.
