Recently, an accused in a break and enter departed from the scene on foot. He was pursued by two officers of Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police who are known for their dedication to physical fitness. He was arrested and is currently facing charges for the offence.

The OPP want would-be criminals to think twice...

Both officers involved recently successfully completed triathlons. One officer completed an "Ironman" triathlon this past summer. The event involves swimming, biking and running for a total distance of 226 kilometres (kms). He finished with a personal best time. The other officer completed his first triathlon, 26 kms, 800 metres swim, 20 kms biking and 5 kms running, a Sprint Class event. He finished third in his age category.

The health and well-being of members has long been a priority for the OPP - a responsibility that is shared across the organization. The OPP is committed to a complete and holistic approach to health and well-being.

"Dedication to fitness and living a healthy lifestyle are important parts of being a police officer and with this dedication we can effectively respond to and support people and businesses in our community," says OPP Interim S/Sgt Paul Richardson, Detachment Commander - Bruce Peninsula.
