opp-graphic-fullA weapons call on Hwy. 10 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands ended safely and without incident.

At approximately 6:04 p.m. on January 6, 2018, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police received a report of a black Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) that had parked on the shoulder of Hwy. 10 near Road 190 and that two men had exited the vehicle and were observed walking towards a residence; one of whom was believed to be carrying a sawed-off shotgun.

Upon arrival, police observed the males standing next to the suspect vehicle. Given the seriousness of the call, police arrested the males at gun point.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that one of the males was the owner of the property which was being used as a hunt camp. The firearm in his possession was a non-restricted firearm (shotgun) which was stored safely and possessed legally. No offences were committed.

For public safety reasons, a section of Hwy. 10 was closed for a short time while the investigation was ongoing.

There were no injuries.
