pedestrian crossingOn March 1, 2018, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police received a report of an assault that had occurred on Highway 6 & 21 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs around 2:00 p.m. that afternoon.

A young male and a female, pushing a baby stroller, were crossing Highway 6 & 21 from the intersection of the No Frills parking lot towards the McDonalds parking lot against a green light. While in the intersection, a black sport utility vehicle had accelerated and made a left turn across their path. The female yelled at the motorist who then suddenly stopped his vehicle, exited, and proceeded to assault the male. The 23-year old victim from South Bruce Peninsula sustained a minor injury.

The suspect returned to his vehicle and proceeded northbound on Highway 6 & 21.

After an ongoing investigation the driver of the black SUV was identified.

On March 4, 2018 at 6:16 p.m., Grey County OPP arrested and charged 28-year old Leigh Redfern of Saugeen Shores with assault, driving under suspension, and fail to yield to pedestrian.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on March 29, 2018.
