Bags containing deer carcass were retrieved from the river.

On March 7, 2018 Grey County Ontario Provincial Police received a report of two large clear plastic bags containing what appeared to be meat in the Big Head River located on Grey Road 12 in the Municipality of Meaford. It was unknown if the meat was from an animal or a human.

With the assistance of the Meaford Fire Department, the bags were retrieved from the river and the contents were determined to be portions of a deer carcass.

Investigation revealed that on March 5th at approximately 10:30 p.m., a pick-up truck was observed parked on the bridge over the Big Head River for an extended period of time.

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) was notified of the incident.
