A 63 year old Wasaga Beach man is charged following an impaired driving investigation by city police Sunday morning. Around 11:00 a.m. police had received a call from a clerk working at an east side retail store about a customer smelling of alcohol.

When the man drove from the store lot the quick thinking salesperson noted the licence plate and direction of travel. The vehicle was quickly located by police on 16th Street East and a stop was initiated. Police performed a test with an approved roadside screening device which the accused failed. The male was transported to Owen Sound Police where a Qualified Breath Technician conducted tests resulting in readings above the legal limit.

The driver had his licence suspended for 90 days and his car was impounded for a period of 7 days. The accused will appear in court later this month to answer to a charge of operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
