OS-Police-cuffsMan arrested and held in custody for sexual assault.

On Thursday April 26th 2018, shortly before 6:00 p.m., the Owen Sound Police Service was called to the 600 block of 2nd Avenue East after a complaint was received that a man had just committed mischief inside a dwelling house.

It is alleged that the man left the residence and again committed mischief to the exterior of the residence and left the area by foot. The man then encountered two children who were outside, and it is alleged that he briefly stopped and committed a sexual assault on one of the children, and then assaulted the other child. The accused was located a short distance away, at which time he was placed under arrest. There were no physical injuries reported.

The accused appeared in court on Friday April, 27, 2018. At approximately 10:13 a.m., while the accused was being interviewed at the courthouse, he suddenly jumped up, and lunged at a court officer pushing him backwards. The accused then attempted to stab the officer with a pen. After a physical struggle, the accused was restrained and returned to his cell.

He has been charged with the following offences:

* Mischief Over Five Thousand Dollars

* Sexual Assault

* Sexual Interference

* Assault

* Assault Peace Officer

* Assault with a Weapon
