broken windowGrey County Ontario Provincial Police urge the public not to leave their valuables in plain view inside their vehicle.

Leaving items such as purses, wallets, cameras, GPS, electronics, cash, etc. is a temptation for some to break into your vehicle to steal these items.

On July 10, 2018 at approximately 1:00 p.m. Grey County OPP received a call from a Wardsville, Ontario resident reporting that while she was hiking someone had smashed her car window and stole her purse and a cell phone. The vehicle was parked on Colpoy's Range Road in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Other vehicles that were parked in the area were not damaged. Although the victim's vehicle was locked, leaving items of value in plain view made this a crime of opportunity.

Anyone with information which may assist police is asked to call Grey County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web-tip at www.cstip.ca, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
