OSPS-fullMan assaulted with knife in downtown core.

On August 3rd, 2018 shortly before 2 am, a male party who was walking in the 200 block of 9th Street East was approached by an unknown male. Following a brief exchange of words one male produced a knife and slashed at the victim cutting the victim's forearm. The assailant then fled the area. The victim was transported to hospital where he received medical attention for a deep laceration to his forearm.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the altercation or has information regarding this incident to contact Owen Sound Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

Just prior to 2:30 am, Police observed a motor vehicle being operated in the downtown core without the headlights on. Police stopped the vehicle and investigated the 36 year old male driver. Police observed the odour of alcohol on the driver's breath and demanded he provide a sample of his breath into a road side screening device. The male was placed under arrest after failing the roadside test and transported to Owen Sound Police Service. As a result of the subsequent breath test results conducted at the station, the male driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliltres of blood.

The Markdale area man has had his driver's licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was driving impounded for 7 days. The driver will appear in court later this month.
