On August 10th, 2018 at approximately 11:40 pm, a member of the Owen Sound Police Service was conducting a vehicle stop in the 200 block of 10th Street East when he observed two eastbound vehicles racing on 10th Street while approaching his position. Both vehicles were stopped by the officer and as a result of the investigation both drivers have been charged with stunt driving-racing under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. A 49 year old Owen Sound man and a 18 year old Meaford man will appear in court in September to answer to the charge. Both drivers have had their divers licence suspended for 7 days and their vehicles impounded for 7 days.


On August 11th, 2018 at approximately 1:30 am, Owen Sound Police were advised of a motor vehicle collision in the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue West. Police found that a vehicle driven by a 29 year old Georgian Bluffs woman had collided with 2 parked vehicles. The female driver, who was found to be under the influence of alcohol, was arrested for impaired driving and transported to Owen Sound Police Service. The female driver provided samples of her breath which registered close to 3 times the legal limit. The female's licence has been automatically suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for 7days. The female driver will appear in court at the end of August to answer to the charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. There was significant damage to vehicles however no injuries were sustained.
