Ontario Provincial Police LogoFound body identified as missing male in the Owen Sound harbour.

On August 18, 2018 at 5:20 p.m. Grey County Ontario Provincial Police were called concerning a missing male in Georgian Bay in the Owen Sound harbour area. The male entered the water along with a friend to assist a family pet that had jumped in from their boat. When the male failed to surface the family called for assistance.

The Canadian Coast Guard, Canadian Forces Base Trenton, Grey County OPP Marine Unit, Owen Sound Fire Department and Grey County EMS attended the area and assisted in searching for the missing male.

On August 20, 2018 OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit attended and with the assistance of Ministry of Natural Resources vessel conducted an underwater search of the last known located of the missing male.

At 10:16 a.m. a deceased body was recovered from the water in the Owen Sound harbour. The body has been identified, by next of kin, as the 27-year-old missing male, Derick Henry of Cambridge.
