beer-fullMan faces impaired driving charges after nearly driving into river.

A 62 year old Kitchener man was arrested this afternoon after nearly driving into the Sydenham River in Harrison Park. Owen Sound Police responded to a report of a vehicle driving into the river at the Harrison Park campground at around 2:00 p.m. Upon arrival police located a Chrysler sedan partially hanging over the riverbank with the accused male attempting to reverse the car out of the position.

Police immediately detected signs of impairment and the male was arrested without incident. The male was transported to the police station where a Qualified Breath technician conducted testing indicating the driver was over the legal limit.

The male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operation with over 80 mgs. He will appear in court on September 13th to answer to the charges. The vehicle received minor damage and was impounded for 7 days. His licence was also suspended for 90 days under legislation.
