An investigation into a driving complaint by Owen Sound Police has resulted in a 69 year old city resident being charged with multiple offences including Care and Control of a motor vehicle while impaired by a drug.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. police responded to the area of 3rd Avenue East after receiving a call from a citizen reporting a male acting in a bizarre fashion, possibly under the influence of drugs seated in the driver’s seat of a Pontiac Sunfire. A similar complaint had been called into police earlier in the day at around 5:15 a.m. involving the same vehicle in the area Georgian Bluffs and the west side but officers were unable to locate the car.

When police arrived on the scene, the male was in his vehicle with the engine idling in the 800 block of 3rd Avenue East. The officer conducted a roadside assessment and subsequently arrested the male for care and control while impaired by drugs. When arrested the male was found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine and he was also breaching a probation order. The male was turned over to a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) for testing. The expert also concluded the suspect was impaired by a drug.

The suspect had his licence suspended for 45 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. He will appear in court on December 20th, 2018 charged with Care and Control of a motor vehicle while impaired by a drug, possession of methamphetamine and breach of probation.
