winter drivingGrey County Ontario Provincial Police investigated ten (10) motor vehicles collisions between 8:00 a.m. on January 16th and 9:00 a.m. on January 17, 2018. Most were single vehicle collisions and there were no serious injuries reported.

Driving too fast for road conditions is the number one cause of winter collisions. Drivers must remember to adjust their driving to the current winter road and weather conditions. As well, drivers must remember to:

- stay in control of your vehicle at all times

- allow extra time to travel to and from destinations

- leave extra space between vehicles

- avoid sudden braking, accelerating or steering

- use your full set of headlights every day during the winter months; daylight running lights are not as bright and do not engage your rear taillights making it difficult, and at times, impossible for drivers behind you to see your vehicle.

And remember - it's not only unsafe to drive on a closed road - it's illegal!

For local road conditions, visit the Grey County Transportation Services web site at www.grey.ca/service/taps/winter-road-conditions or by calling 1-866-266-7569.
