opp p0lice july fullOn January 28, 2019 at approximately 10:30 a.m. Grey County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a three vehicle collision involving a Grey County Ambulance at the intersection of Highway 6 &10 and Grey Road 18, in Rockford, in the Municipality of Meaford.

Investigation revealed that a Grey County Ambulance was travelling northbound on Highway 6 & 10 with its emergency equipment activated. It came to a rolling stop at Grey Road 18 and proceeded through the intersection against a red traffic signal light. The ambulance collided with a delivery truck that was travelling west bound on Grey Road 18 through a green light. The impact caused the delivery truck to travel on an angle where it collided with a pick-up truck stopped in the southbound lane of Highway 6 & 10.

The delivery truck driver's view was obstructed by a tractor trailer that was stopped in the turning lane on Grey Road 18.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision.

The driver of the Grey County Ambulance, a 45-year old male from Owen Sound, was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for Fail to Yield to Traffic on Through Highway under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
