OSPS logoCity police are warning all motorists to stay off the roads even for in city travel. The weather has deteriorated causing zero visibility in some areas.

In addition:

The Owen Sound Police Service is advising residents and visitors to Owen Sound to take notice of extreme weather alerts issued by Environment Canada for this evening.

Another extreme weather event will arrive this evening and will once again bring treacherous driving conditions on local roads and the connecting highways to the city. We ask that you reconsider your driving plans and to only travel if absolutely necessary. In an emergency, always dial 9-11.

During a consecutive extreme cold event, check in on those friends or family that may live alone, or those that may be the most vulnerable during frigid temperatures and the blowing of heavy bands of snow.

The Owen Sound Police Service is open 24 hours per day and is available for those that need some reprieve from the elements and require a place to warm-up. Citizens can call *211 for the most up-to-date information pertaining to services that are available in the city.

Do not call 9-1-1 to ask for weather updates or to enquire about road closures; those lines must be kept available for emergencies. You can visit https://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/on-7_metric_e.html for hourly extreme weather updates from Environment Canada.
