oppb graphic fullOn February 16, 2019 at approximately 3:03 p.m., a member of the Grey County Ontario Provincial Police observed a female, known to be a suspended driver, operating a motor vehicle on Isla Street in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. The officer conducted a traffic stop following confirmation of the driver's licence suspension.

The female, who was aware of her suspension, exited the vehicle. Upon being advised that the vehicle would be towed and impounded for seven days, she locked the vehicle in an effort to prevent it from being towed. The female was arrested for driving while suspended. She resisted arrest requiring a second officer to attend the scene to assist.

An inventory search of the vehicle was conducted at which time a clear baggy containing a substance believed to be Methamphetamine was located. A search warrant was obtained for a further search of the vehicle which resulted in a small quantity of a powdered substance believed to be purple Fentanyl to be seized.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year old woman from the Municipality of West Grey was charged with the following offences:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Opioid (other than heroin) and Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA)

Resist Peace Officer under the Criminal Code (CC); and

Driving While Under Suspension (x2) under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

She is to appear in court in Owen Sound on March 7, 2019 to speak to the charges.
