rural roadHalf load limit restrictions are in effect for Grey County roads.

Grey County Ontario Provincial Police would like to ensure the motoring public is aware that the half load limit is in effect throughout Grey County until April 30, 2019.

Half load restrictions are put in place to protect roads from sustaining permanent damage due to heavy loads. Roadways throughout the county are more susceptible to heavy load damage during the spring thaw.

Grey County OPP commercial motor vehicle enforcement trained officers will be monitoring commercial motor vehicle traffic during the half load restriction season. Passenger vehicles are exempt from this restriction on the use of roadways.

Commercial vehicles are restricted to 5 tonnes per axle during the half load season.

Commercial vehicle operators are asked to plan ahead with travel routes and to obey all road restriction signage.

Four "Massload" commercial motor vehicle scales were purchased through the four Police Service Boards (Township of Chatsworth, Township of Georgian Bluffs, Township of Southgate and the Municipality of Grey Highlands) to assist Grey County OPP with half load limit enforcement.
