os p0lice july fullTwo men are in custody and city police have seized Blue Fentanyl and prohibited knives.

During the afternoon hours of April 11, 2019 members of the Owen Sound Police Service were conducting observations regarding drug activity in the downtown core. At approximately 2:30 p.m. police observed a 39 year old Hanover man who was known to be wanted on two longstanding arrest warrants. The man had just exited a rental vehicle in a municipal parking lot. The man was arrested based on the warrants and a subsequent search revealed that he was in possession of highly toxic blue coloured Fentanyl. The man was charged with possession of a controlled substance and breach of his probation order.

Police also investigated the driver of the rental vehicle and located several prohibited knives. The driver, a 35 year old Southampton man, was also on a recognizance of bail and undertaking conditions based on previous criminal charges that prohibit him from the possession of weapons. The man was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and failure to comply with his recognizance and undertaking.

Both males have been detained in police custody pending bail hearings.
