ospslogoOwen Sound Police conclude child abuse investigation with charges.

In January of 2019 the Criminal Investigations Branch of the Owen Sound Police Service began a child abuse investigation after serious injuries were detected to a two year old child.

The child was hospitalized at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound for a period of approximately two weeks before receiving additional treatment at London Health Sciences. The investigation determined that there was an unreasonable delay in the child receiving obviously necessary and immediate medical care.

The physical injuries suffered by the child victim, though serious; do not appear to be life altering. The child victim additionally suffered significant acute emotional trauma as a result of the incidents.

On April 4, 2019 the child’s 25 year old mother was arrested and charged with failing to provide the necessities of life to her child.

On April 18, 2019 the 26 year old former boyfriend of the child’s mother was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm and failing to provide the necessities of life to a child.

Both accused individuals are scheduled to appear on May 16, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charges.
