OSPS logoFor the second day in a row,Owen Sound Police Service has located, arrested and charged a driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle after receiving a call from the public. On Saturday morning at 10:30 am a concerned motorist called in a possible impaired driver entering the City from Georgian Bluffs. Police located the vehicle in the 900 block of 1 st Avenue West and arrested the 65 year old female driver. The driver provided breath samples that were 3 times the legal limit.

On Sunday afternoon shortly after 1 pm Owen Sound Police received a call from a concerned motorist after his vehicle was almost struck head on by a suspected impaired driver. The caller advised that the vehicle was entering the City from the Nichol’s Gully Road area. Police located the vehicle parked behind a west side business with a 50 year old male driver from Owen Sound in the driver’s seat.

Police conducted a road side breath test with the driver which the male failed. The male was transported to Owen Sound Police Service where he provided samples of his breath registering more than twice the legal limit.

In both incidents the drivers were released from custody after being charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while having a blood alcohol concentration equal to over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. Both drivers will be attending Court in August to answer to their charges.
