Ontario Provincial Police LogoOn September 13, 2019 at 3:24 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision involving a (grey) car at Grey Road 3 near Bentinck-Sullivan Townline in Township of Chatsworth. The driver and a one year old child passenger were transported by Bruce County Paramedics to hospital.

OPP officers attended the hospital and confirmed that the driver and child had no injuries. The driver was read a breath demand for an approved roadside screening device. The breath result received from the driver registered as "F" for fail, indicating a concentration greater than of 80 milligrams (mg) of alcohol in 100 millilitres (ml) of blood.

The driver was arrested and transported to South Bruce OPP detachment in Walkerton. The results of the breath test with the driver, by a Qualified Technician, were twice the legal limit of 80mgs.

The 25 year old driver from Ayton has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation of motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
  • Operation of motor vehicle while impaired - blood alcohol concentration over 80, section 320.14(1)(b) CC

The child was picked up from the hospital by a family member.

The accused has been released on a Promise to Appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 10, 2019.
