On Thursday, November 28th, 2019, at approximately 1 p.m., members of the Hanover Police Service arrested a 36-year-old Palmerston man related to a drug trafficking investigation. The suspect was determined to be in possession of methamphetamine at the time of his arrest.
Further investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant in the 200 block of 7th Avenue in Hanover where officers seized 608 grams, (more than half a kilogram) of methamphetamine.
This seizure represents more than 60,000 “hits” of methamphetamine to the end user, worth an estimated street value of $60,000. Officers also seized a Mercedes-Benz automobile, over $1800 in Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia as offence related property.
The Hanover Police Service has charged the suspect with the following offences:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Breach of Probation
- Breach of Recognizance
This investigation and seizure is significant that will cause a disruption to the flow of methamphetamine in Grey and Bruce Counties. Methamphetamine is a highly addictive illicit drug that affects the safety, security and well-being of communities across Canada and beyond.
