On July 29, 2019 at 10:47 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a fatal single motor vehicle collision on Southgate Road 26 East of Boothville, Southgate Township in Grey County. OPP officers attended the scene with Grey County Paramedic Services and Dundalk Fire Department.

A (grey) Pick-up truck was found on its roof in the ditch area off of the involved roadway. A 21 year old male from South Bruce was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second male was removed from the vehicle by the fire department then transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. A third and final male, was also transported to hospital with minor injuries.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation.

On November 26, 2019 Grey Bruce OPP, with assistance from OPP Grey Bruce Crime Unit, arrested a 26 year old from Huron-Kinloss and the following charges have been laid,

  •  Dangerous Operation causing death, section 320.13(3) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
  • Dangerous Operation causing bodily harm, section 320.13(2) CC
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) CC
  • Operation causing death, section 320.14(3) CC
  • Operation causing bodily harm, section 320.14(2) CC
  • Public Mischief, section 140(1)(b) CC

 

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and Undertaking. There next court date is at Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on December 19, 2019.
