2016 Attack Priority Selection

 

Attack Select Aidan Dudas with 10th Overall Pick

Owen Sound Attack General Manager Dale DeGray and the Attack Organization is pleased to announce that with the 10th overall pick in the 2016 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, they have selected forward Aidan Dudas from the North Central Predators Minor Midget AAA team.

“Aidan is a very skilled and very responsible player.”, stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “He competes at an extremely high level night in and night out and is of tremendous character.”, stated Dale DeGray. “We recognized that we needed to address skill and scoring ability up front in our lineup and the addition of Aidan certainly helps that. He has a quick shot and skates extremely well.”

Dudas, a 5’7, 150lb centre tallied 25 goals and 26 assists to go along with 47 penalty minutes in 31 games played. The Parry Sound, ON native also suited up for Team Canada in the Youth Olympic games where he notched a goal and 2 assists, winning a Silver Medal.

Dudas is described by OHL Central Scouting as a very good skater with a low centre of gravity, making it hard to knock him off pucks. He has elite skill and a good snap shot with a quick release.

“Aidan will fit in nicely with our core group of players and with the style of hockey we play in Owen Sound. We are very excited to have him.”, added DeGray.

Attack Select Doherty and Beamish

Owen Sound Attack General Manager Dale DeGray and the Attack Organization is pleased to announce that with their 3rd Round Pick, 43rd overall they have selected forward Jackson Doherty from the Hamilton Bulldogs Minor Midget AAA team and with the final 3rd Round Pick, 51st Overall, they have selected Doherty, a 5’10 centre from Ancaster notched 12 goals and 21 assists in 33 games for the Bulldogs last season.

“Jackson is a smart, gritty,  heads up player with good offensive instincts.”, said Dale DeGray. “He plays a smart, responsibly gritty style.”

With their second 3rd Round Pick, 51st Overall, the Attack added a defenseman, selecting Luke Beamish of the Halton Hurricanes Minor Midget AAA squad. The 5’11 rearguard had 3 goals and 14 assists in 32 games last season.

“Luke plays with an offensive flair, but has a solid all around game.”, said DeGray. “We feel he’ll grow as a player and be very effective for us.”

“In the 3rd Round, we wanted to continue to address our offense, but keep with our style of playing a responsible two-way game. We’re thrilled to add both Jackson and Luke and welcome them along with their families into the organization.”, concluded DeGray.

Attack Make 4th and 5th Round Picks

The Owen Sound Attack has made their 4th and 5th Round Selections and is pleased to announce that with the 4th Round Pick, 71st overall, they have selected Right Winger Daylon Groulx of the Southern Tier Admirals Minor Midget AAA team. With their first selection in the 5th Round (91st overall), the Attack took defenseman Lucas Crawford of the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies and with the second selection in the 5th (101st overall), the Attack selected forward Keenan Stewart of the Guelph Gryphons Minor Midget AAA team.

Groulx, a 5’10, 163lb winger had 15 goals and 15 assists to go along with 53 penalty minutes in just 22 games last season. Lucas Crawford is a 6’2, 177lb defenseman and appeared in 56 games for the Grizzlies last season, tallying 17 goals, 26 assists and 130 Penalty Minutes. The Attacks final selection in the 5th, Keenan Stewart of the Gryphons notched 19 goals and 11 assists in 30 games. The 6’1 forward also tallied 38 penalty minutes.

“Through the 4th and 5th Rounds, we looked to add more scoring depth up front and on the back end.”, said Dale DeGray. “Daylon, Lucas and Keenan all have tremendous upside and we’re excited to add them to our organization. Welcome to the players and their families.”

 

Attack Take Forward and Goaltender

With a pair of selections in the sixth round, the Owen Sound Attack is pleased to have selected Left Winger Marino Moro 107th overall and Goaltender Josh Graziano 111th overall in the 2016 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

Moro, a 5’9, 160lb Mount Hope native is a speedy winger who notched 20 goals and 22 assists in 31 games with the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs. Josh, a 6’1 goaltender is described as athletic and smart, spending the year Nichols Varsity Prep School.

“Marino is a very skilled, offensively gifted player who we really targeted in the early mid rounds. Josh is a goaltender who we were very pleased to get in the 6th. He is athletic, efficient and smart and will add to our goaltending depth.”, said Dale DeGray.

 

Attack Pick Through 10th Round

The Owen Sound Attack continued to add depth in the middle rounds of the 2016 Ontario Hockey League Priority selection on Saturday.

In the 7th Round (131st Overall), the Attack selected forward Matt Sherwin of the Quinte Red Devils. The 6’1, 188lb right winger notched 16 goals and added 12 assists in 34 games this past season.

The Attack then picked twice in the 8th Round, selecting Eric Cerantola of the Oakville Blades Minor Midget squad 145th overall. Cerantola, a 6’3 winger tallied 15 goals and 16 assists  in 34 games last season for the Blades. With the 151st overall pick, the Attack selected Spencer Kersten of the Waterloo Wolves. Kersten averaged over a point per game with the Wolves last year, finishing the season with 9 goals and 25 assists.

The 9th  round saw the Attack draft a defenseman. The Attack selected American Ben Schultheis  of the TPH Thunder. Schultheis tallied a goal and 3 assists in 29 games played. In the 10th round, the Attack selected Left Winger Mathieu Halle from the Kingston Frontenacs Minor Midgets. The 6’0 winger had 29 points, including 16 goals in 32 games.

We wish to welcome Matt, Eric, Spencer, Ben and Mathieu and their families to the Attack organization.

 

Attack Wrap Up Priority Selection

The Owen Sound Attack made their final picks in Saturday, picking in Rounds 11 through 15.

In the 11th Round, 204th Overall, the Attack selected Alex Tower of the Toronto Red Wings. The 5’10 winger tallied 23 goals and 34 assists in 55 games last season and is described as a skilled offensive player. The 12th round saw the Attack select winger Jesse Tucker of the Toronto Titans. The 5’11 centre had 9 goals and 14 assists for the Titans last season. The Attack didn’t have to look far for their 13th Round Selection as they stuck with the Toronto Titans and took defenseman Riley Valade. Valade had 5 points in 21 games last season.

In the 14th Round, the Attack took centre Connor Gregga of the Markham Majors. Gregga, a 5’7 centre finished the season with 5 goals and 8 assists. With the 15th and final pick of the draft, the Attack selected winger Tyler Davis of the Markham Waxers. Davis, a 5’11, 200lb forward had 14 goals and 23 assists to go along with 100 penalty minutes.

That concludes the 2016 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection for the Attack. In total the Attack drafted 13 forwards, 4 defensemen and 1 goaltender.
