Josh Stade sauble racingOn Sept 3rd under some of the most ideal weather conditions all year long and in front of another full house Sauble Speedway crowned its 2016 champions. This season again had some of the closest point's races to be found and everything would come down to the last race.

In the Junior Late Model division with the top two drivers tied for points going into the night it would all come down to two heat races for 88 Tyson Schreinert from Ayton and 7 Ty Cavallin from Owen Sound. In heat one 7 Cavallin would easily take this one as 88 Schreinert could not get any speed out of his car. Then in heat two the 7 of Cavallin and the 88 of Schreinert would come together just as the green flag dropped which in turn sent Cavallin hard into the outside wall which looked like it would end his night, but by the time he had taken the ride back around to the pits in the St John's Ambulance his crew already had repairs done to his car and he was able to climb out of the Ambulance and back into his race car and return to the track in the end 88 Tyson Schreinert would win heat two setting up the feature. In the feature race though it would be all Ty Cavallin in the 7 for the win and the championship second would go to 88 Schreinert and coming in third would be 14 Braden Grimoldby from Owen Sound.

In the Bone Stock class which was new to Sauble Speedway this season the wrap up night would be all 277 Ray Flynn from Clinton as he would take home both heat races along with the feature race claiming the championship trophy. In the feature second would go to number 1 Matt VanDyk from Annan followed by 5 Kaiden Legge from Owen Sound.

Four Cylinder action saw four different heat winners setting up a great feature race to crown this year's champion and in the end it was the car that started the season the strongest that would prevail as champion, number 17 Kevin Bridge from Kincardine. In the feature Bridge would find himself finishing 2nd to 35 Andy Kamrath from Innisfill but that was all he needed to win the championship. Third in the feature would go to 10 Will Gibbons from Port Elgin. Heat wins would go to 10 Gibbons, 3 Doug Butler from Angus, 17 Bridge and 35 Kamrath.

In Thunder Car which has had the closest battles all season long this season ending night of racing did not disappoint anyone. In heat one it would be 36 Ken Grubb from Walkerton winning in heat two it was the 20 of Glen Schnurr from Hepworth, third heat would be 00 Joe Adams from Owen Sound and heat four would go to 47 Kent Nuhn from Desboro. In the feature it would be 36 Ken Grubb bringing home the victory and his third straight Thunder Car championship second in the feature race would go to 77 Jake Zevenbergen from Shallow Lake and in third would be the 01 of Brandon McConnell from Tara.

In the Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Models you needed to bring your calculator to figure things out before this one would be over. Since the Late Models only run two feature races and with the point's leader 10 Tom Gibbons from Southampton not making it out for feature one it opened the door for four other drivers to take home the points championship but you had to win a race and place while in the other. In feature one it would be defending Late Model champion 17 Josh Stade from Chesley taking home the first win and giving himself a shot as repeating as champion second went to 72 Junior Farrelly from Guelph with 37 Marvin Freiburger from Walkerton coming in third. In feature two with all the contenders lined up front everyone knew it would be a race to the checker and in the end it would be the 17 of Josh Stade coursing to the finish and his second straight Late Model championship. Second would go to 10 Tom Gibbons from Southampton with third going to 88 Tim Schreinert from Ayton.
