The Florida Panthers confirmed this afternoon that they have signed Attack defenseman Thomas Schemitsch to a National Hockey League entry-level contract and that Schemitsch will report to their American League affiliate in Springfield.

Schemitsch was a 5th Round pick of the Attack in the 2012 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection and a 3rd Round pick of Florida (80th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft.

"We're extremely happy for Thomas and his family ", stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. "While the door will always be open for Thomas if Florida elects to return him as an overage player, we hope he continues to excel at the American League level and wish him nothing but the best. That's what our business is all about. "

Schemitsch, who turns 20 in less than three weeks racked up 97 points over three seasons with the Attack, including another 7 points in post season play.

The Attack continue their road play tonight when they take on the Sudbury Wolves. Game time is 7:00pm and the action can be viewed on Rogers TV Grey County Channel 53 or by tuning into Fred Wallace on 560 CFOS with Bear Radio.
