The 2017 NHL Entry Draft concluced on Saturday, June 24 in record setting fashion for the Owen Sound Attack.

After Nick Suzuki was selected 13th overall by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 1st Round on Friday night, he watched as five of his teammates were selected from rounds two to seven on Saturday, making it a franchise high six players drafted in a single entry draft.

The previous high for the Owen Sound Attack/Platers franchise was five, set in 2012.
This year's edition of the draft saw Jonah Gadjovich, Maksim Suhsko, Markus Phillips, Trenton Bourque, and Petrus Palmu follow Suzuki and raise the total number of players to be drafted out of Owen Sound to 55.
Gadjovich was the first Attack player to come off the board on day 2 of the NHL Entry Draft when the Vancouver Canucks used the 55th overall pick of the draft to take the hulking power forward.

The 6'2, 201 lbs Whitby native enjoyed a breakout year for the Attack, scoring 46 goals to finish 3rd overall in the OHL's goal scoring race, while also adding 28 assists for a total of 74 points. In three years in the OHL, Gadjovich has suited up in 186 games for the Attack and has scored 64 times while chipping in with 43 helpers.

Attack import Maksim Sushko was the next Owen Sound skater to go off the board when the Philadelphia Flyers selected him at 107th overall in the 4th round.

A rookie for the Attack this past year, Sushko scored 17 goals and added 15 assists in just 54 games of action. The Brest, Belarus native also represented his his home country at the 2016 IIHF D1A U20 Championships last December, and helped Team Belarus earn a spot in the 2018 World Junior Championships in Buffalo, New York.

The 6'0,, 185 lbs power forward stepped his game up in the 2017 OHL Playoffs, scoring three times and adding eight assists for the Attack in 17 games of post-season action.

Shortly after Sushko was selected, the Los Angeles Kings made Attack rearguard Markus Phillips the 118th overall selection in the draft.

Standing at 6'00 and weighing in at just over 200 lbs, the former 9th overall pick in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection skated in 66 games for Owen Sound this past season, scoring 13 times and adding 30 assists.

Captain of Team Canada at the 2016 Ivan Hlkina Memorial Tournament, Phillips will join teammate Jacob Friend and former Attack defenders Kurtis MacDermid and Damir Sharipzyanov in the Kings organization.

Phillips' fellow defenceman, Trenton Bourque, was the next Attack player selected, going in the 6th round at 175th overall to the St. Louis Blues.

A re-entry selection, Bourque played 67 games for the Attack in 2016-17, registering 11 assists and 36 minutes in penalties. The 6'2, 200 lbs. shutdown defenceman has played in 153 career OHL games, split between the Sudbury Wolves and the Attack, in which he has picked up 20 assists and a total of 78 penalty minutes.
Owen Sound's leading scorer in 2016-17, Petrus Palmu, was then selected just six picks after Bourque, going to the Vancouver Canucks at 181st overall.

The Joensuu, Finland, native finished 3rd in the OHL in points this year, racking up 40 goals and 58 assists in 62 games of action. Over the course of his three year career with the Attack, Palmu compiled a staggering 85 goals to go along with 104 assists and just 84 minutes in penalties.
Palmu joins Gadjovich as the 2nd member of the Attack to be selected by the Canucks in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, and became the 6th Owen Sound player picked this year, setting a record for most players selected in a single NHL Draft out of the Attack/Platers franchise.
Vancouver's selection of Palmu marked the final Attack player to be picked in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. A full list of all players selected, as well as where they were taken, can be found below.
