manncupOn Saturday the Mann Cup was in Owen Sound for the first time in 67 years.
Owen Sound resident Adam Jones was the MVP of the sixth and deciding game of the finals last month as his team, the Peterborough Lakers, won the national senior men's lacrosse championship. Jones had three goals and four assists in the game.
A teacher and field lacrosse team coach at St. Mary's High School, Jones has brought the cup home for the week and showed it off Saturday at Boston Pizza where he signed autographs for local lacrosse fans young and old.
This was the first time Jones, a product of Owen Sound Minor Lacrosse and the Owen Sound Senior B North Stars has won the cup, although it's a family tradition. His father won it as part of a Peterborough team in 1978, and his grandfather played for the Owen Sound Crescents when that team brought the cup to the scenic city in 1950.
