Not one but two masked security guards greeted me at City Hall tonight - opened the door, asked me who I was.  Then we signed a screening sheet with a disinfected pen.  I guess this was for tracing after the fact, because I left it upside down on the table with the rest.

First up was Savanna Myers, Grey County Director of Economic Development and Tourism and Culture. . .

parkerpharmacysmallGrey Bruce Property Rentals submitted an application on July 16 for a facade grant from the City to remove the existing facade of a heritage building on 2nd Ave East and replace the door, siding and windows. This comes to council tonight.

According to the staff report "Due to the timing of Committee meetings and the applicant’s time constraints, the
application is being brought forward to Council directly for approval. The applicant is proposing to start work immediately."

driveinwelcomeOwen Sound City Staff is proposing two Drive-In Movie Nights to take place on Fridays in late August and early September. It is proposed that this event take place in the north parking lot of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. Based on vehicle spacing recommendations from Public Health, the event will be able to accommodate 100 vehicles.

In addition to vehicles, staff are proposing for those who may want to ride a bike or walk that an area be designated for lawn chairs. . .

Waterfront Trail Amphitheatre Picnic PavilionDue to high water levels and active wave action, water and debris have created hazards for users on sections of the Waterfront Trail, Amphitheatre and picnic pavilion area at Kelso Beach.

jailandcourthouseThe following is a staff report on the old Courthouse and Jail property going to Council on Monday from the Community Services Committee. It is in response to a motion following a presentation last February from Taylor Hazell Architects (link with photos in the article). It was noted by City planning staff at that meeting that "the City has set the preservation and adaptive reuse of the designated 1854 Courthouse as the highest priority."
