The Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services will begin their annual Home Visitation and Assistance Program on May 5, 2015.

This voluntary program is performed by the on-duty firefighters and allows homeowners the opportunity to have their home inspected for life safety devices as well as providing homeowners the opportunity to ask questions of the firefighters.

"The home visitation and assistance program has been very successful," said Fire Chief Tom Potter. "The firefighters will ensure working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms are present in the home where required and answer any questions the homeowner may have in regards to home fire and life safety."

The area of the City of Owen Sound involved in the 2015 campaign is the North East portion of the city. Firefighters will be visiting homes in the area north of 10th Street East and east of 2nd Avenue East. The program is voluntary for homeowners.

If a resident does not live in the area being canvassed but would like an inspection by our firefighters to discuss their home fire safety and life safety, please contact the fire department at 519-376-2512 to schedule an inspection.

The Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services are also prepared to answer any questions residents may have regarding the proper placement of Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms.
