The Owen Sound leaf and yard waste compost site reopened its gates for the season to Owen Sound residents on April 10.

Those using the site are asked to please take the time to read the allowed and prohibited materials list below, as the City will be placing a greater emphasis on compliance.

The site will initially be opened from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., seven days a week, providing a convenient option for Owen Sound residents to dispose of their leaf and yard waste materials.

Please note that the leaf and yard waste site is exclusively for the residents of Owen Sound, and proof of residency may be required.

Commercial businesses that regularly use the compost site to drop material from City residents ONLY can register through the City’s website to be permitted.

Specific guidelines are in place to outline what may or may not be dropped at the compost site.

  • Leaves
  • Garden waste
  • Branches and shrubs up to 15 centimetres (6 inches) in diameter

Prohibited Materials:
