volunteer of yearThe City of Owen Sound is pleased to announce Joan Hawksbridge as its 2019 Volunteer of the Year.

Joan has been an integral and constant contributor to the Tom Thomson Art Gallery since 1969. Her passion is art! Ms. Hawksbridge is a local professional artist who has generously donated her time for the past 50 years. Ms. Hawksbridge has served in many capacities at The TOM including fundraising, exhibit preparation, committees, special events and curator.

Nominated by the Tom Thomson Art Gallery, Joan is credited for making significant contributions to assisting the Gallery achieve its goals.

“In a community like ours, we rely on many volunteers like Ms. Hawksbridge to make our City such a great place to live,” said Mayor Ian Boddy. “It is truly remarkable for her to have volunteered at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery for the past 50 years.”

The City of Owen Sound’s Volunteer of the Year award is chosen through nominations submitted to the City’s Community Services Committee. Ms. Hawksbridge was honoured by Mayor Ian Boddy and Owen Sound City Council prior to this evening’s Council session in Council Chambers at City Hall.
