In response to the warm temperatures, the City of Owen Sound wishes to remind residents that there are public places available throughout the City to keep cool, and public water re-fill stations.

The centres are located at the:

Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library

- Monday-Thursday: 9:30am-9:00pm

- Friday & Saturday: 9:30am-5:00pm

- Sunday: 2:00pm-5:00pm

Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre/YMCA Shared Corridor

- Monday-Friday: 5:45am-10:00pm

- Saturday: 7:00am-4:00pm

- Sunday: 8:00am-5:00pm

 Bayshore Community Centre

- Monday-Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm

Owen Sound City Hall

- Monday-Friday: 8:30am-4:30pm

Barclay Room at Owen Sound Police Services

- 24/7, 7 days per week

Tips for staying cool in warm temperatures include:

Stay in an air-conditioned indoor location as much as you can.
Drink plenty of fluids even if you don’t feel thirsty.
Schedule outdoor activities carefully.
Wear loose, lightweight, light-coloured clothing and sunscreen.
Pace yourself.
Take cool showers or baths to cool down.
Check on a friend or neighbour and have someone do the same for you.
Never leave children or pets in cars.
