There are so many things I love about being an Owen Sounder; I love taking my daughter to the Farmer's Market every Saturday morning. I love that I can hike or walk or cycle pretty much anywhere and be surrounded by amazing nature. I love that I don't have to go anywhere to experience great food, great art, great music, or great friends. All of the reasons I wanted to move back to my hometown and open a business in the downtown core six years ago remain the same. This is genuinely where I want to live.

But there is so much we can do together to make our city better. So many ways we can make our city council work not just for some people, but for every person who lives here. I want to be a part of that process. I want to help cultivate our artistic and cultural community so that it continues to grow. We already have so much talent to celebrate here; why not support and leverage this talent to encourage tourists to visit us as well?

I've always believed that a vital, engaging downtown core can and should be the heart of a community. Not simply because we want people to invest and shop here, but because this is our social hub as a city as well. A place where people wander the shops, coffee in hand, to meet neighbours and friends and visitors. This is the lifestyle so many of us wanted when we chose to move here or stay here. Let's preserve our historic authenticity. Let's come up with an empathetic, comprehensive approach to deal with homelessness in our city. Let's try to see each other through a people-centric rather than an auto-centric lens.

Because our city is worth every effort we are willing to make together. I really want to find solutions to some of our problems with you to make Owen Sound liveable and lovable for every person here. I want to be proactive on crime prevention and I believe the best way to do this is to build strong, safe communities that make everyone feel welcome. Where young entrepreneurs see living here as the wonderful opportunity it really can be, where city council meetings are accessible to everyone. Where everyone truly feels like they have a voice. I want to hear everyone's voices. I really just want to learn with all of you. It's why I live here. It's why I'm staying here.
