Our MP Larry Miller recently posted a "Lesson in Irony" in which a comparison is made between distributing food to 46 million Americans in the United States while at the same time discouraging citizens from feeding animals in their national parks for fear that the animals would become dependent on humans feeding them. The post connects these statements by saying that there is something to learn here but it doesn't say what. MP Miller comments that, "This statement true for any country".

Since the distribution of food in the US is provided to prevent people from starving due to poverty, illness or a mental health crisis, I guess MP Miller feels that injured or less able citizens should simply starve and that it is better for "the herd". That would certainly be the argument for not "feeding the animals".

MP Miller's comments remind me of a 1969 movie, "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?", about the depression-era dance marathon and the opportunistic emcee who urges them on to victory. So here is another lesson in Irony. Thanks for the encouragement Larry.
