Community Foundation Grey Bruce is pleased to announce that a new bursary fund for post-secondary studies in agriculture is being built to honour a significant milestone in the life of Member of Parliament Larry Miller.

Knowing that Mr. Miller and his wife Darlene are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this July, the Foundation approached them with the idea to transform a personal celebration into a legacy of support for Grey Bruce. Reflecting the Miller family's long-standing ties to agriculture, the couple is developing the Larry & Darlene Miller Agricultural Endowment Fund to provide an annual bursary in perpetuity to students in Grey and Bruce Counties who pursue post-secondary university, college or apprenticeship studies in Agriculture or Agri-Food.

"Larry and Darlene Miller's selfless wish to increase educational access for our community's youth while strengthening our agricultural sector resonates strongly in the heart of our community's character. We are thrilled to put a legacy plan into place for the Millers that celebrates their commitment to each other and to their community in perpetuity" said Kimberley West, Chair of Community Foundation Grey Bruce.

Those wishing to help build the fund are invited to contact the Foundation to make a tax-deductible donation in honour of M.P. Larry Miller and Darlene Miller's 40th anniversary. All donations will be matched fifty cents for every dollar up to a total of $10,000 through the Foundation's Fund Matching Program which is in effect until the end of 2016. An anniversary card will be sent to the Miller family to acknowledge each donor. The public is also invited to work with the Foundation to create new sources of funding for local students through donations to create new endowed education funds under the Smart & Caring Education Initiative which aims to add one million dollars to the Foundation's education endowment fund by 2017 to provide a massive, much-needed increase in available funding for local students.
